FAQ

  • What is included in your prices?

Included in every type of shoot is planning help, brainstorming/storyboarding, correspondence and open arms to any ideas or requests. We’ll work together to select locations, decide on custom packages and make sure your dream shoot comes to life. On-shoot, I can operate more discreetly or more intentionally – and we’ll chat about this in the process. I always come equipped with backups, emergency gear, and everything I can to help things run smoothly. If you’ve booked a wedding, you’ll get a quickly edited preview gallery within 72 hours of your wedding, for a sneak peek while I edit the rest. Couples will also receive a custom post-wedding surprise in the mail, so stay tuned!

  • Why are weddings more expensive, and prices vary so much?

Sometimes pricing can be a tricky subject, and confusing to understand. Commercial shoots are priced one way, events another, and weddings another still. While commercial shoots can be re-shot or added to, events & weddings are a one-time thing – and weddings are one of the most important days of your life! The forethought, planning and corresponding before weddings, the experience in events and helping things run smoothly, and the long hours of wedding shoots (and gear needed to power and store data for the day) are all of high value. Backup cameras, dual-cards, multiple mics, park permits – you get the picture. It’s an intensive and high-stakes industry, and I love being a part of it! You’ll find that I’m still priced competitively and always do my best to go above and beyond for every couple.

  • What quality of photo/video will we get? What about RAW files?

Photos will always be delivered in full-size, from a full-frame sensor camera. Occasionally, cropped images may be slightly smaller. Video is typically shot in 4k and edited/exported at 1080p (this is the most versatile for everyday viewing). If you have a project requiring very large photo or video display, we can discuss alternatives. Raw files of both photo and video require powerful software to develop, so it’s best to leave that to me!

  • What is your editing style? Can you do other styles or Photoshop requests?

I don’t like to say I’m particularly ‘bright & airy’ or ‘dark & moody’, mainly because these edits depend entirely on the lighting situation present at the time. If you prefer one type of edit, that can definitely be factored in while I’m shooting and editing! I try to aim for a timeless look overall, and can absolutely work on adding in any fun edits or trends. Photoshop requests can be done on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to an hourly editing fee.

  • What amount of photo/video will be delivered, approximately?

Photo-only weddings generally are promised a minimum of 30 photos per hour booked, and for video 50-seconds of footage in a highlight film per hour booked. Hybrid packages of both photo and video will have varied minimums for these (since I’m a 1-person show!), but remember these are only my contractual minimums, and I won’t withhold beautiful images if it puts us over that threshold.

  • How do we access our photos/videos, and do we get printing rights to them?

Photos and videos will all be delivered through a Pic-Time gallery, which is shareable with your friends & family and includes printing/download rights. This platform also offers a custom print shop with your gallery, making print selection a breeze.

  • What if we book on a day with bad weather?

We have a little saying out here – there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing! Of course, if you’re looking for a wedding shoot and it’s crazy blustery or a downpour – I’ll make every accommodation possible to ensure we have a beautiful shoot, whether it’s postponing or driving further away. Generally speaking, these moody mountains are beautiful with any weather, and I’ll be sending a list of things to bring (like jackets to warm-up between photos). I’m always equipped with a couple clear umbrellas - and sometimes, those moody days produce the best shots.

  • What gear do you use?

I shoot on a Canon EOS R6 and an R8, with my primary lens being the heavyweight champion, the RF 28-70 F2. I also use an RF 70-200 and a 50mm prime when something smaller is needed.

  • Are you licensed, insured, and permitted?

Of course! My business license is based in the Town of Canmore, with $2million liability insurance. I have Banff National Park and Yoho National Park permits. In most cases, weddings booked with venues in Calgary or Banff don’t require additional licenses by the town/city, but any additional permits will be investigated when we’re in the booking process.

  • Can you help us with shoot locations?

I absolutely love scouting locations & finding great spots! There are plenty of picturesque drive-up places in Canmore & the surrounding areas. Hiking is my first love out here in the mountains (and the reason I started in photography) so if you’re game for a little walk in the woods, I definitely am too.

  • Do you work with second shooters?

All of my pricing and packages are based on a single-shooter (me!) but I’m always open to hiring out when second shooters are desired for extra coverage. Let me know in the inquiry process if you are keen for that, and we can price it out!

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

E-Transfer within Canada is my preferred payment method, and I also accept PayPal or credit through Square.
